Newtown and Erskineville Anglican Church, as part of the Anglican Church Diocese of Sydney, is committed to the physical, emotional and spiritual welfare and safety of all people, particularly within its own community. To ensure this, every leader working with vulnerable people must complete the following processes.
Our Safe Ministry Representative
Bec Low is our Safe Ministry Representative. She assists our Rector Andrew Errington and the parish to comply with the Safe Ministry requirements of the Diocese. She helps to monitor our Safe Ministry accreditation and our Working with Children Checks and she also reports on Safe Ministry systems and practice. If you have any Safe Ministry queries or concerns she can be contacted via safeministry@neac.com.au.
We would love as many people as possible across church to have their Working With Children Check (WWCC) done. The WWCC number is valid for 5 years.
Step 1: If you are a volunteer with vulnerable people you are required by law to apply for a NSW Working with Children Check Number.
It is easy to apply online here.
Step 2: Once you get your Application Number (starting with “APP”), take it to a Service NSW Centre to verify your identity. They will verify your identity and after a few days/weeks they will email you a new WWCC Number (Starting with “WWC”).
For volunteers this is a free service.
Step 3: Once you receive a WWCC number, Please send the following;
to office@neac.com.au for Verification by the Office of the Children’s Guardian and authorisation by our Senior Minister.
As part of the Anglican Church’s safe ministry practice you are required to do training specific to working with vulnerable people. This training is online and self paced. This accreditation lasts 3 years.
If finances are of any issue we are happy to assist.
Please contact office@neac.com.au to let us know.
Once you have received your accreditation over email please forward it to office@neac.com.au.
A member of staff will contact you as a final step in this process. You will only be able to work with vulnerable people after they have confirmed you as an approved person.
